Irish is a language (no, it’s not called Gaelic, it’s called gaeilge but when speaking english, just call it Irish. Same way you call it Spanish, not espanol, when speaking english) Craic sounds like crack, because it’s an Irish word following Irish grammar. Niamh sounds like neev because it’s an Irish word following Irish grammar. Jose sounds like hoezay because it’s a Spanish word following Spanish grammar. The is no k in Irish, c makes a k sound. Cian, Ciaran, Caoimhe all make k sounds (key-in, keer-awn, kwee-va) Caoimhe is also pronounced keeva, it’s the feminine version of Caoimhin, which in English is ‘Kevin’. Many Irish names are common in US and UK, names like Kevin, Megan, Ciara, Sean, Owen etc are Irish Generally female names end in a vowel, male names end in an n Ciara and ciaran Caoimhe and caoimhin Caela and Caelan (Keela(n)) Seana and Sean S makes a ‘sh’ sound in Irish, Sean makes Shawn. Not part of the UK. Not part of the British isles. Simply, Irish. Craic just means fun.
