He doesn't sound as much as elvis as he used to before but there is still a hint of it in his voice.
Месяц назадValvis
'Crazy' comment. The Elvis movie has already been a success. Who knows if the MJ movie will be? Also, so what if MJ nephew is playing him in the movie. Since when does an actor have to be related to the person they are portraying? Who cares if the Elvis movie was released the day before MJ death anniversary. That has no relevance. Also, Lisa Marie (Rip) was not stolen by anyone. She will always be Elvis' daughter. She was only married to MJ for under 2 years and then left him. In interviews etc. you could tell she regretted that whole thing with MJ and it followed her for the rest of her life. She had said that she was stigmatized because of it.

I was gonna say that there’s a hint of it still there but for me I find it cool lol

@crazy4corbinbleux Why do they have to compare to each other? They're both great singers from different times. It's not a contest lol.

If an actor did a British accent for a movie, then kept doing it for months after the movie because he thought it sounded cooler, everyone would agree he’s a lunatic...

Месяц назадJack Of Romadrama
@JaneDiamond 551964 Great! I don't know if this relate but if you have interest in chatting with him I will send you the details if necessary.. just showing fan love
Месяц назадKG P +1
@JaneDiamond 551964 completely agree with you and CB. I was experiencing hoarseness and throat irritation, went to the ENT and he sent me to a speech therapist. She told me I was speaking in a lower tone than my natural voice, so it was causing strain, they actually call it "frying" your voice when you do that. I went through about 4 or 5 sessions to learn how to find and speak properly for my natural tone. They call it resetting the voice, and I could feel the difference in my throat. So I think he learned how to talk like elvis, but if he likes how it sounds, why would he work to change it back? And he would have to work to get it back, because now it's not second nature to talk in his previous voice. The only thing I hope is that a speech therapist or vocal coach is checking to make sure the technique he learned and how he's speaking isn't damaging his voice. He said he thinks he damaged his vocal chords, but I hope not!?

@crazy4corbinbleux ok cry about …
Месяц назадC B +1
@JaneDiamond 551964 yes I think something similar happened to Mariah Carey as well
Месяц назадJaneDiamond 551964 +2
@C B Austin was singing constantly on the set on certain days. Baz asked for a dozen or more takes on the songs he performed. Austin stated in an interview he tried to sing "Never Been to Spain" (which never made it into the movie) and it hurt his vocal chords. I also think that singing "Trouble" with such ferocity did a number on them as well. In the end, a throat specialist would need to check his throat to see if there is scar tissue anywhere. That is sometimes the cause of the raspy voice.
Месяц назадJ L +117
Austin put his heart and soul into portraying Elvis. After speaking in a certain tone for years, you can’t immediately shut it off. I personally liked it. His voice sounds a bit different now, but he just has a deep, great voice. He should never feel “ fake”, he’s an extremely genuine man.
Месяц назадPaige Cartwright +879
In psychology studies for my degree, in a module regarding the human behaviour, it actually lists people who quickly (unintentionally and without noticing they’re doing it) mimic others mannerisms, accents, tone, voice etc as people who are highly empathetic people and there is a strong correlation between mimicking and those who are altruistic and kind hearted. So he shouldn’t be ashamed or embarrassed.

@Isabell P. LOL
Месяц назадKathi Fuller
This used to happen with work colleagues. Spending all day every day with them, I'd pick up subconsciously on their unique speech patterns and word usage and I'd catch myself telling my husband about my day and sharing stories at parties, using some of the same phrasing, verbiage, and timing as my co-workers. I think there is not just an empathy that goes with that but an ability to adapt and integrate stimuli from your environment into your persona. It's a survival skill that seems both primal and sophisticated at the same time. Look at ravens and their ability to mimic the human voice. It's terrifying and fascinating.
Месяц назадFrances
Yeah mimicking but not completely adopting, right? If that was what was happening here wouldn't he be mimicking the accents/mannerisms/speech patterns/inflexions of those around him and not just one person? Surely that would mean a fluctuating "voice" and not one committed adopted one. If he really can't shake the voice then it is most likely more closely related to habit than empathy or something along those lines.
Месяц назадMrsTambourineGirl +1
yep, and also those of us with BPD also do this.

People are spending too much time trying to explain to Austin "how his voice has changed". When they don't have ANY references to what his voice was like just before he started methodically training to get the role. So... what are they going on about? Who cares? He is who he is, he spent YEARS perfecting Elvis, because of INSANE expectations and pressure put on him. He's respectful of Elvis' memories & legacy, and he smashed it out of the park. So give Austin a freaking break. Like he says, he's strained his voice for literally years. His voice needs to heal and is what it is NOW. Often people are super judgemental, without thinking logically. 😂
Месяц назадMiss Larissa Fay
@R B yes, of course. The funny part is, ALL the ones "the press" have shown are from him being a teen or young adult. Not from recent years. If the general press asked him this question with recent videos, my comment would be different. 😂

I had that from playing an aristicrat where the recieved pronounciation would linger with me even after the performance was over with, this was due to the fact we would constantly rehearse night and day to get into the role which involves litterally meeting up with a dialect or linguistics coach learning to become that character from movement, facial expression and speech. Its starts to consume you as an actor after a while that you begin to mould bits of the character in ones self. To overcome this, it's just the case of doing other roles outside of the role you were doing so for him it'll be going from Memphis to London with the roles but Austin Butler isn't alone in this as even Josh O'Connor spoke like King Charles after he'd finished with the Crown.

Dear Lord, there's just no pleasing people! This man sounds divine! I don't care how much or little he sounds like Elvis. He could make a fortune reading naughty audiobooks!!

..THE ELVIS FILM WILL NEVER COMPARE TO THE MICHAEL BIOPIC SET TO RELEASE IN 2025! Nice try Austin but you can't even come close! You're not even related to Elvis. Michael is going to have his blood line NEPHEW play him in his biopic. It doesn't get any more royalty than that. How does it feel? And don't think for a second we forgot the executives of 'Elvis' thought it was fitting to release the film the day before Michael's death anniversary on June 25th. You are NOT forgiven for that one. Michael >> Elvis. Long live the King!!
