In all fairness, I’m kinda glad Michelle Yeoh got the main role. Jackie’s a movie star, but I don’t think the movie would’ve been quite as good with him in it instead of Michelle

@Adrinopaulindromeus To be fair to them, I don't know about the rest of the world, but in the US, Yeoh featured in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" like 20+ years ago. And we haven't really since much of her since (no matter what else she's been in). Whereas Jackie Chan is household name. A star is someone who can't walk the streets without being stopped or tiktoked. And Yeoh wasn't that kind of person until just recently. Again, in the US.

Michelle made the movie. Her versatility made me laugh and cry at the same time. She deserves "everything".

Disagree about her “making” the movie. She is a fantastic actor, but everybody I that cast did amazing in that film. It was equal parts of fantastic actors interacting. Not just Michelle.

Studio A24 who made the film are independent. Hollywood didn't have much to do with this movie, but they would love if you give them credit for it!

Super Cop is still my favorite Jackie Chan movie, and Michelle was terrific in it, she did amazing stunt work in it.

I just wish Jackie Chan was introduced as a character somewhere in the movie so it could’ve been fun to see 2 worlds colliding.

in a nother parallel universe i would've loved to see jackie and michelle as mum and dad in this story. but things worked out very well in this universe. we are reminded how extremely competent of an actor Ke is and his acting career gets reignited.

My take on this, considering how long they've known each other, was that he was calling out the guys who DIDN'T call Michelle first for the role.

They ribbed at each other often, and are often in friendly competition with each other. Jackie didn't like female action actors because he believed women shouldn't be doing such stunts, but he respected Michelle. Michelle loved to tell that story about that lol.

In the world of Hollywood, I think everything happens for a reason. I just can't picture Jackie Chan as the male lead in this movie. Or it would've been more martial arts action-oriented. Michelle's facial expressions and body language changed constantly in the movie. I just can't picture Jackie doing that. He's a great action star, but as far as acting, I don't think he would've won an Oscar. Glad Michelle got the opportunity. Jackie's ego wouldn't have said Yes anyway to an independent, small budget movie.
