Same thing with de-gendering the acting categories. I wish all actors would be taken on their merits but it is still a male dominated industry and women are likely to be under represented if they did that.

Cate is a great actress and a very likeable person. Yet "Tar" is a heavy, exhausting, over-intellectual film, not great entertainment. There are also enough real-life anti-social musicians to make icons of. No need to do that with a fictional character from a movie that will be forgotten in a few years.
